Dental Health

This week it was all about dental health. We brainstormed what we do to keep our teeth healthy. We then showed the students dental tools, x-rays and real teeth. Our dramatic play area turned into a dentist office. Center activities included making a toothbrushing chart, flossing teeth using big legos and yarn, using pink playdoh and white beans to make a mouth full of teeth, placing teeth in numerical order, measuring objects with a toothbrush, playing a number teeth game in which the students rolled the dice and placed that many teeth on the mouth chart, washing cars with a toothbrush and soapy water, painting shapes with a toothbrush and making a bracelet with 20 white beads. During journal time, we drew something that made us smile. Group time activities included using a foam tooth to practice positional concepts and sorting foods that are good and bad for your teeth. In addition, it was really fun to pretend to be teeth. Ms. Ginny brushed us with a snow brush then flossed us using a scarf. (goals: sorting, answering questions, counting, recognizing numbers, sensory, fine motor, shapes)

Reminders

Tuesday, May 26th -Party at the park!  9:45-11:15 or however long you'd like to stay!
We will meet at Hunter Park/Crystal Lake Park at 2301 Putter Lane at 9:30.   We will not be at LECC beforehand.  An adult must stay with your child for the entire duration of our party. I found out there is a water pad there, so your child can wear a swim suit under their clothes or bring one to change into.  We are not sure if it will be turned on and running when we arrive. Make sure your child uses the bathroom before you come to the park because there are no bathrooms.
Wednesday, May 27th -This will be our rain date if we have to cancel Tuesday's day at the park. If not, Wednesday will be a regular school day.
